The governance of SPDC lies mainly with its Board of Directors (BoD) comprising of seven to twelve members serving on a voluntary basis. SPDC's Managing Director is an ex-officio member of the BoD. The Board provides strategic and policy direction to SPDC's management besides approving its annual work plan, budget, and audited financial statement.
Mr. Moeen Qureshi is a former Prime Minister of Pakistan and an internationally renowned economist. He has held important positions in international organizations and has served as a Senior Vice President at the World Bank and International Finance Corporation besides working for the International Monetary Fund on a number of assignments. Currently he is Chairman, Emerging Markets Partnerships, Washington, DC.
Mr. Qureshi has served as the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan; Chairman, Committee on Decentralization to Local Bodies (Government of Punjab); Chairman Task Force on Discretionary Powers (Government of Pakistan), Chairman Tax Reform Commission (Government of Pakistan) and Board of Directors, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. He has extensively published on education, rural finance for growth and poverty alleviation. Currently, Mr. Qureshi is the President of the Pakistan Economic Forum.
Mr. Javed Jabbar is a former Senator and Federal Minister for Information and Media Development, Petroleum and Natural Resources, Science and Technology. He takes an active interest in diverse fields including international affairs, voluntary work for rural and urban development, the environment, social issues and mass media. Globally recognized for his contributions in the field of environment and climate change, he was elected as the global vice president of IUCN. He is a founder member of the Citizens Media Commission of Pakistan, the South Asian Media Association, Baahn Beli and Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO). Mr. Jabbar has several books to his credit.
Dr. Saba Gul Khattak
She is currently attached with the World Bank as a Senior Gender Specialist. A former member of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, she is a human rights activist and provides regular policy advice on women’s economic empowerment, governance and refugee issues to the government. Dr. Khattak specializes in comparative politics and her research is a political economy approach to development, feminist and political theory with a focus on state theory. Her work concentrates on issues of women’s economic empowerment, peace and violence, governance issues, refugee issues, and labour rights. She regularly contributes to journals and books and has presented her work in a number of national and international conferences. She is also a former Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Policy Initiative (SDPI).
Dr. Ishrat Husain
He is a former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and Chairman, National Commission for Government Reforms. Dr. Husain has served as a member of the Mahathir Commission 2020 vision for the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) besides advising the IDB for creating its poverty reduction fund. He is the Distinguished National Professor of Economics and Public Policy and serves on the Boards of several research institutes, philanthropic and cultural organizations. He served as Dean and Director, Institute of Business Administration from 2008-2016 and is currently, Professor Emeritus at IBA and Chairman, Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance. He is the author of several books and monographs.
Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali
She is a former member of parliament, education minister, and special assistant to the Prime Minister on the Social Sector. Her contributions in the field of education include the institutionalization of the National Education Assessment System (NEAS) for improving the quality of education in Pakistan besides being a member of several task forces constituted by the government. She has also been the lead person in the government coordination team constituted for Social Action Plan II and has been elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO as Chairperson of the Special Committee. She is the founding Executive Director of the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
Mr. Muhammad Ayub Baloch
He is a development expert and has served as member, Balochistan Public Service Commission; Secretary, Culture, Tourism and Archives, IT, and Sports besides being Commissioner, Balochistan Employees Social Security Institution for two terms. He has delivered numerous lectures on literacy and his intellectual contributions at the national level are well-recognized. A playwright and short story writer, he has contributed articles for magazines, research journals and newspapers. Mr. Baloch is also a member of several professional bodies and has represented Pakistan in a number of international events.
He has wide ranging, senior-level experience in public policy, corporate management, and financial services. He has been an advisor to the government and is a member of several boards of leading multinationals and foreign-investment enterprises in Pakistan. He served as the Principal Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance 2009-2010 besides writing regularly for daily English newspapers on economic and development issues.
Osman Saifullah Khan
Senator Osman Saifullah Khan, a member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), is currently the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Science & Technology and a member of the Senate Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also serves on three other Senate Committees for Finance; Information Technology & Telecommunications; and Rules & Privileges.
He has held a variety of strategic and operating roles with the Saif Group, and is currently its Vice Chairman. He is associated with various industry advocacy platforms and is a member of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC). He serves on the Advisory Committee to the Planning Commission of Pakistan, and is a member of the Policy Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Founder of the Wadaan Foundation, a not- for- profit organization, Osman Khan is also an advisor to the President, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences (GIKI).
